Plants which contains alkaloids coexisting with alkaloids of berberine type or berberine series, or a plant except Japanese barberrys (Berberis thunbergii) which contains the alkaloids and the leaves of Japanese barberry are treated for removal of fat and tar, and extracted with a polar solvent. The extract is treated with a soln. of alkali metal dihydrogen phosphate and a soln. of phosphoric acid or organic acid, and then condensed. The condensate is then neutralised or slightly alkalised with a soln. of dialkali metal hydrogen phosphate or alkali metal phosphate (when dipotassium hydrogen phosphate is used in the first stage and disodium hydrogen phosphate used in the second stage, Ohbaku (Phellodendron amurense) is excluded). Water is removed, and the residue is extracted with a polar solvent. Removal of the solvent by distillation yields the anti-Eumycetes agent. |
