titleOfInvention LACQUERED POLYAETHYLENE FILM
abstract Lacquered polyethylene films are coated with 0.5-100 (pref 1-10) mg/m2 of a lacquer contg. a cpd. of formula Rf-Q, Rf is a 6-12C straight chain satd. perfluoroalkyl residue and Q represents -PO(OH)2; -PO(OH) -(CH2)aOSO3M or-COOM where M = NH4+, H+ or an alkali metal ion and a = 1 or 2. Used as a prim. packaging film for toys, foodstuffs, etc to prevent adhesion to a secondary film subsequently used for multiple packaging. The coating is simple to prepare and apply, and does not adhere to heat sealing equipment. In an example, a high press. polyethylene film 100 mu thick was coated with a mixt. of 0.5g fluoroalkyl-phosphinic/phosphonic acid 1:1 and 50 g P.V. butyral as a 10% ethanol soln. and dried at 80 degrees C. No adhesion to uncoated film occurred on heat-shrinking at 180 degrees C.
