titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POLYTRIAZINES |
abstract | Prepn. of polytriazines is by polytrimerisation of cyanamides by (a) condensing polyamides of formula R(NHR1)n (I) with 0.5 mole 4,6-dichlor-s-triazine per mol. of amino gp. with splitting off of HCl; (b) reacting the amino gp., still contg. amino H, with halogen cyamide to cyanamides; and (c) polymerising in a further stage at 0-350 degrees C, opt. in the presence of a catalyst. The formula R is aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic araliphatic, heterocyclic, or a bridge interrupted aromatic gp.; R1 is H or a 1-9C alkyl, or R1 and R together and with a further NH form piperazine; and n = 2-5. Prods. are practically insoluble in solvents and infusible. They are colourless, yellow-to-brown cpds. with high hardness, temp. resistance and good flame resistance. Before the polytrimerisation, the polycyanamides can be combined with fillers, pigments etc. for the prepn. of laminates and moulding materials. No more than low shrinkage occurs on polymerisation. |
