titleOfInvention METHOD FOR RAPID POINT MEASUREMENT OF GUEST TEMPERATURES
abstract Atoms in the gas are excited from original ground state (O) to an excited state by irradiation by an electromagnetic radiation. Temperature dependent changes from this state to higher excitation states are amplified, and radiation so generated is measured and the temperature of the gas may be calculated from it. The apparatus measures the temperature of the small volume of gas which lies at the intersection between the directions of irradiation and observation. The system may monitor emissions of sodium light. It may be used for measuring temperature of electric arcs and flames.
