abstract |
Monolithic carrier catalysts for purificn. of exhaust gases from combustion waters, show a positive gradient in content of active phase in the flow direction. Longer life is obtd. since ageing and poisoning of the catalyst by impurities in the gases, e.g. lead, is concd. near the gas inlet. Efficiency is increased by presence of higher amts. of active catalyst where the concn. of combustible material is reduced and conversion is more difficult. In an example, a monolithic carrier 150mm long contains the catalyst in concn. increasing from 0.2 to 0.5% in the first half and from 0.2 to 0.74% in the second half. Using exhaust gas at 720 degrees C, conversion is 98% for CO and 78.71% for HC. After 100 h. use, values are 98.04% and 74.74% respectively. |
