A compsn., stabilised degradation by ultraviolet light, contains (a) 1-98.99wt.% of a polyester, free from polymerisable olefinic bonds, (b) 1-98.99wt.% of an unsatd. polymer, and (c) 0.01-10wt.% of a UV light stabiliser. (a) the polyester is esp. a thermoplastic, with m.pt. >200 degrees C (240-320 degrees C), crystallinity 10-80%, glass transition temp. >30 degrees C and inherent viscosity 0.1-2.5 (0.6-1.5 for spinning or extrusion; 0.5-1.5 for moulding). Claimed polyesters are poly(ethylene terephthalate) opt. modified with 20 moles-% isophthalate, poly(trimethylene terephthalate), poly(1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate) opt. modified with 50 moles-% isophthalate, and poly(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene terephthalate). Poly(ethylene terephthalate) may also be modified with 1 moles % 2,21,6,61-tetrabromobisphenol A. |
