abstract |
The prodn. of oil-contg. microcapsules by coacervation in a mixed soln. of gelatin and gum arabic is carried out in the presence of a thixotropic agent. The latter remains in the liq. medium throughout the process. The process is esp. useful for the prodn. of pressure-sensitive copying materials. The thixotropic agent prevents excessive aggregation of the microcapsules. The thixotropic agent is pref. a polysaccharide, e.g. "Keltrol" or "Kelzan". It should be used in an amt. of >=4 wt.% based on gelatin. |
