titleOfInvention | THICKENING AGENT FOR POLYMERISATE DISPERSIONS |
abstract | In parent patent, weakly cationic condensates (I) of NH3 with polyether chlorhydrin cpds. (II) are prepd. by reacting an aq. or alcoholic NH3 soln. with (II) of formula (III): R -O(-A-O)n- CH2-CH(CH2Cl)-O mCH2-CH(CH2Cl)OH p, (III), or the polyepoxide derived from this by elimination of HCl in an NH3 (100%):(II) wt. ratio of 1:15-80. R is a 2-8C (cyclo)aliphatic p-valent gp. A is -CH2CH2- and/or -CH2-CHMe-. n = 4-30, m = 0-4, p = 0-6. (I) has a viscosity of min. 50 cP at pH 7 in 20% aq. soln. at 20 degrees C. In the addition, (I) is used as thickener for aq. polymer dispersions in an amt. of 0.1-10 wt.% w.r.t. the solids content of the dispersion. They are used in paper staining colours, various compsns. used for treating textiles, e.g. for the prodn. of artificial leather, leather-like coatings and back coatings, and in paints and printing pastes. |
