abstract There is a wheel (61), revolving at a rate dependent on travelling speed, with cutouts (6) in its periphery, set at the required stud interval, and matching the outline of the studs in shape. The machine has guideways leading the studs round and down to a point above the wheel and into the cutouts. There is a delivery device, mounted ahead of the wheel and coupled to it, applying measured quantities of adhesive to the road, at the intervals required for the studs. The guideways may be U-profile with interfacing open sides. Traffic delays are reduced, with rapid operation involving fewer personnel.
