abstract Pyrrolidones of formula (I) and corresp. free acids and (in)org. salts, (where R1 is 1-6C alkyl, or 3-7C cycloalkyl opt. substd. by >1 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy; R2 is 1-4C alkyl; R3 is 1-10C alkyl opt. substd. by 1-5C alkoxy or 1-5C Alkylthio, or phenoxy opt. substd. by one or more 1-3C alkyl or 1-3C haloalkyl, or by halogen, or by halophenoxy, or by furyloxy or benzyloxy opt. substd. by 1-3C alkyl, CF3, 3-7C cycloalkyl, phenyl or furyl which may be substd. by >=1 1-3C alkyl; m is 1 or 2; n is 2 or 3; and the lateral chains in the 3- and 4-posns. being in the trans configuration) have prostaglandin-type activity comprising luteolytic, gastric-secretion-inhibitory, bronchospasmolytic and antihypertensive activity. (I) are also used as intermediated for other prostaglandin analogues. Bronchodilator spray is used at 0.1-10mg/day; and hypotensive dose is 1-10 mg/day i.v. or 1 mg-1g/day orally.
