abstract A sound absorption device for elimination of exhaust noise in a powered vehicle, having two separated, roughly parallel exhaust gas pipes having at least one section covered with sound absorbing material and of a perforated design situated within the silencer device. Each pipe (5, 6) is enlarged in one direction in the region of the perforated section, and subdivided by a perforated plate (12). This conducting plate (12) is situated in a plane which is not directly impinged upon by the exhaust gases of the other pipe.
