titleOfInvention | TEST EQUIPMENT AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING CONCEPTIBILITY OR PREGNANCY |
abstract | New test kit for determining an increase in N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase in female body fluids (i.e., for determining the fertile period or pregnancy) consists of: a bibulous absorbant strip impregnated with a non-toxic buffer (A) (to maintain pH 4-5) and a colour indicator (I). The strip is moistened with saliva, or cervical or vaginal fluid. Any colour that develops is further intensified by the addition of a buffer (B) (to maintain pH 9-11). The presence of a colour indicates ovulation or pregnancy. (I) may be alpha-naphthol-N-acetyl-beta-d-glucoraminide, 1- p-nitrocatechol -N-acetyl-beta-d-glucosaminide, 3,3-bis-(p-hydroxyphenyl)phthalid-N-acetyl-beta-d-glucosaminide, or pref. p-nitrophenyl-N-acetyl-beta-d-glucosaminide (II). Safe, simple, reliable test is very accurate, and readily detects ovulation (the fertile period; for conception or rhythmic contraception). Method also allows the diagnosis of pregnancy to be made as early as 10 days after fertilisation. |
