Tablets (or dragees) contg. moisture-sensitive ingredients are protected against the effects of moisture by incorporating a drying agent in a separate part of the tablet. The drying agent absorbs any residual moisture from the tabletting process and protects the ingredients from the effects of atmospheric humidity. The drying agent is pref. a nontoxic substance which absorbs H2O as water of crystn., esp. anhydrous CaSO4, CaHPO3, Na2SO4, Ca lactate, Na citrate, citric acid and/or glucose. It can be incorporated in the core or sheath layer of sheathed tablets or in one or more layers of multilayer tablets. The part of the tablet contg. the drying agent can also contain one or more active ingredients. Such tablets can then be coated to form dragees. |
