titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR SELECTING THE NUCLEAR RADIATION OF CERTAIN GAS-SHAPED RADIONUCLIDES, IN PARTICULAR LOW-ENERGETIC ELECTRON EMITTERS
abstract A method of selecting the radiation from specific gaseous radionuclides, esp. low-energy electron emitters conducted by a carrier gas through a counter tube, consists of discriminating between the output impulses according to the shape of the impulse. In particular, the shape may be distinguished by the impulse build-up time; double-delay-line-clipping may be used to establish the time difference between the reflection point and the zero passage, either by direct reading of these two values or by the difference between the two readings of zero passage. The resultant, measured pulse shapes can be supplied as outputs through different channels. Used for example for air monitoring in reactors, esp. for indicating presence of tritium. Almost all the constituents of the specimen can be detected with a high degree of selection.
