titleOfInvention BETA (2-BENZIMIDAZOLYL) -AETHYL PROPIONATE
abstract Ethyl 2-(2-benzimidazolyl)-propionate (I) and its hydrochloride and other pharmacologically active salts are new cpds. which are prepd. by reacting 2-(2-benzimidazolyl)propionic acid (II) with ethanol in the presence of a condensation agent which is removed from the solution of the product by evaporation in vacuo or by precipitation with a weakly polar solvent. (I) has a stimulant effect on the reticuloendothelial system and affords non-specific immunity to bacterial infections.
