abstract | Polyamides are produced by polycondensing (A) a carboxylic acid component contg. (a) 50 to 100 mol.% (w.r.t. total A) of naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and/or its amide-forming deriv. and (b) 50 to 0 mol.% (w.r.t. total A) of >=1 aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid (excluding naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), aminocarboxylic acid and/or their amine-forming derivs., and (B) an amine component, contg. (C) 50-100 mol.% (w.r.t. total B) of a straight chain 6 to 13C aliphatic diamine and (d) 50 to 0 mol.%. (w.r.t. total B) of >=1 other diamine, where the propn. of amino gps. or corresp. amide-forming grps. in the total reaction component is equimolar to the carboxyl groups in the total reaction components, and carrying out the reaction until a fibre-forming polymer is obtd. The polyamide is melt-formable and exhibits an excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance and dimensional stability under moist conditions and has a high Youngs Modulus. |
