titleOfInvention 2-NITRO-M-XYLOL-4,6-DISULFONIC ACID, THEIR SALTS AND METHOD FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
abstract New 2-nitro-m-xylene-4,6-disulphonic acid and its salts have the formula (I) (where A is -NO2 and X and Y are opt. different and denote H, a Gp. I or II metal cation, Mg, Al, Zn Fe or NH4). (I) are prepd. by reacting (II) with nitrating agents in the presence of H2SO4 or organic solvents, and opt. reacting the 2-nitro-m-xylene-4,6-disulphonic acid obtd. with inorganic or organic cpds. contg. the cations X and Y. In a pref. process, the mixt. obtd. by sulphonating m-xylene-4-sulphonic acid or by disulphonating m-xylene is treated with nitrating agents. All standard nitrating agents for introducing a nitro gp. into an aromatic ring can be used. An H2SO4 medium is advantageously used.
