abstract Motor fuels consisting of hydrocarbon mixts. boiling in the petrol range contain a polymer with average mol. wt. 500-3500, consisting of a substd. phenol of formula: (HO)a-Ar-(A)b-R (in which a is 1 or 2; Ar is aryl, esp. phenyl; A is 1-4c alkyl; b is 0 or 1; R is a sat. aliphatic gp. with average mol. wt. 500-3500). Pref. 0.01-0.25 vol. % additive is present. Protection against deposits in the suction system of petrol engines, esp. at high operating temps., is increased.
