titleOfInvention | HIGH MOLECULAR ALPHA-GLOBULIN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING IT |
abstract | High-molecular alpha-globulin (I) with (a) 92 plus-or-minus 5% protein; 6.6 plus-or-minus 2.0% carbohydrates of which 2.6 plus-or-minus 6.0% as hexoses, 1.8 plus-or-minus 0.6% as hexoseamine (calc. as N-acetylhexosamine), 0.15 plus-or-minus 0.05% fucose and 2.0 plus-or-minus 0.8% neuraminic acid (calc. as N-acetyl-neuraminic acid); (b) a sedimentation constant of 19 plus-or-minus 2 S; (c) a mol. wt. of 1,000,000 plus-or-minus 300,000; (d) incubation of the molecule in 1% sodium dodecylsulphate soln. splits (I) into units of mol. wt. 12,000-35,000; (e) and electrophoretic mobility corresp. to the alpha1-globulins. (I) have antigen activity and may be used as diagnostic aids with an affinity to steroids such as the steroid hormones oestriol, oestradiol and cortisol. (I) may be used as pure antigens and the specific antiserum obtd. by immunisation with (I), may be used in determns. of (I). |
