abstract The propulsion unit has a front inlet closed by a shutter inside the thrust tube on a detachable body, in the tube to the rear of the inlet, containing the actuating mechanism for the shutter (4). The latter is in the form of a hollow prismatic body, in particular a cylinder, open at the front and mounted coaxially to the thrust tube. The shutter sealing surface can be on its outside, working in conjunction with the internal surface (20) of the inlet (5), and can have an upper sealing ring. Spring and damping devices can be provided for the shutter opening and closing movements and the shutter can be coupled to a slide controlling the escape of propellant gas (9, 8) into the thrust tube.
