titleOfInvention | 1-FURFURYLAMINO-URACILE, A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING IT AND USING IT AS HERBICIDES |
abstract | 1-Furfurylideneamino-uracil derivs. of formula (I): (where R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylcycloalkyl, halocycloalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aralkyl (opt. substd. in the aryl residue) or opt. substd. aryl; R2 is H, halogen or alkyl; and R3 is alkyl; or R2 and R3 are linked to give a polymethylene bridge so as to form an opt. alkyl-substd. ring fused onto the uracil nucleus), e.g. 1-furfuryl-amino-3-cyclohexyl-5,6-trimethylene-uracil, are new cpds. (I) have effects on plant growth, and can be used as defoliants, desiccants, herbicides and germination inhibitors. Depending on rate of application, they can be used as total herbicides or as selective herbicides (esp. in crops such as cereals, maize and cotton). Results of tests for herbicidal activity are given in the specification; thus, in a test for pre-emergence herbicidal activity, (I;R1 = cyclohexyl, R2 + R3 = trimethylene) at a rate of application of 5 kg/ha gives 100% control of Echinochloa, Chenopodium, Sinapis, Stellaria, Galinsoga and Matricaria and 40% control of cotton, but has no effect on oats, wheat or maize. |
