titleOfInvention METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETOXING CYANIC WASTE
abstract Process comprises a first treatment of the residues in a closed reaction vessel, with further treatment as the product passes over filters in a second closed vessel, and finally microbial digestion of the resulting nitrates. The end product is a sludge, suitable as fuel or fertiliser. In the first treatment vessel, the cyanic residues in aq. soln. with traces of metal oxides, react with acid to product hydrocyanic acid, which is then oxidised to nitrate by bubbling air (pref. contg. ozone) through it. The gases produced and the remaining aq. soln. pass along separate paths to a second reaction vessel, for a second similar treatment and passage through gas-cleaning filters and acid-neutralising chalk to a final stage of microbial digestion in slowly stirred vessels.
