Skin-care and skin-protective compsn. contains 1-20 (3-10) wt% oxo-alkanoic acids, or their salts, having general formula RCO-(CH2)n-COOM (I) (where R is H, COOH, 1-4C alkyl opt. substd. by COOH gps.; n is integer 0-4; and M is H, alkali- or alkaline earth metal cation or opt. alkyl- or hydroxyalkyl-substd. NH4), pref. as their Na, triethanol-ammonium or cholinium salts, esp. as the Na salts. The compsn, may be a day-, baby-, night- and nourishing-, cleansing-, protective-, glycerine- and special additive- contg. creams, sun protective creams and emulsions, face and shaving lotions. Skin-moisture can be retained and restored; salts are odourless and non-toxic. |
