titleOfInvention | BENZYLIDEN AND CINNAMYLIDEN DYES AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION |
abstract | New benzylidene and cinnamylidene dyes have the formula (I): (where R is alkyl, aryl, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxy carbonyl, carbamoyl, arylaminocarbonyl, OH, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, alkylthio, mercapto, sulphamoyl, arylaminosulphonyl, ureylene or thioureylene; Ar is arylene; R1 is sulpho, carboxyl, OH, alkoxy or amino; L1-L3 are the same or different methine gps; L is alkylene; M is H or salt forming cation; n is 1 or 2). (I) are used as yellow, orange and purple-red dyes in light-sensitive photographic materials, e.g. in the anti-halation or filter layers. Compared with similar known dyes contg. a water-sol. phenyl gp. in the 1-pos. of the pyrazolone ring, (I) can be quickly and easily washed out during developing and compared with known dyes contg. a sulphophenyl gp. (I) are easily sol. in MeOH. |
