titleOfInvention ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL WITH ROTATING ELECTRODES
abstract Electrochemical cell has impervious electrode plates mounted in a symmetrical circular fashion forming a closely packed bundle of plates close to or on top of one another. These are spaced by spacers which form an electrolyte space between them, the spacing being 10 mm. The plates are arranged around a hollow rotatable shaft, the hollow space being connected to the electrolyte space and, being attached rigidly to the shaft, rotate with it when it rotates. The bundle can rotate as a whole, or all but the outer now of plates can rotate. Alternatively the plates can alternately rotate and stop. The electrical efficiency is much improved by close packing of the plates. However it can lead to high local current densities with consequent local corrosion of the plates. The centrifugal bundle gives the advantage of close packing but avoids the local corrosion.
