titleOfInvention PREPARATION CONTAINING BIFIDOBACTERIA
abstract Preparations for substituting a disturbed intestinal flora or for maintaining a normal intestinal flora contain a mixture of several bifido bacteria species, and in addition contain Lactobacillus casei var. Rhamnosus. The preparations are of use in the treatment of various disorders of the intestinal flora, including intestinal disturbances after antibacterial therapy, colitis ulcerosa, chronic constipation and liver disorders. They are also useful in the establishment of a suitable intestinal flora in weanling infants. The inclusion of Lactobacillus casei var. rhamnosus in the preparations leads to improved colonisation of the intestine by the bacteria. This is because Lactobacillus casei var rhamnosus gives rise to intestinal pH conditions which are optimal for bifido bacteria colonisation.
