abstract Breathing apparatus using chemically bonded O2, comprises a mask, a hose with valves for inhaling and exhaling and a breathing bag and regenerating cartridge which are interconnected. The cartridge contains an oxygen liberating material, e.g. potassium peroxide. In the hose is a chamber in the path of the air, containing a moisture-exchange material of the silica gel type or a material having similar porosity and moisture adsorption and desorption capacity. The amount of material comprises 15-50 g., depending on the desired duration of us of the apparatus. Typically using 25-50 g. the mask may be work for a period of 2-3 hrs.
