Continuous jets of liq. Mg (alloys) and a saline additive (I) constituted by a mixt. of MgCl and >=1 chloride from the group consisting of alcali(ne earth) metal chlorides, are pulverised by centrifugal forces into liq. particles which are then air cooled. (I) also includes a proportion of constituents which ensure a cristallisation commencement temp for (I) that of Mg, and a density at 670-730 degrees C of 0.95-1.2 of that of Mg in the same temp range. The Mg (alloy) is admitted to the granulator at 670-720 degrees C and (I) at 670-730 degrees C. The process avoids the need for a protective atmos and a avoids ignition of the Mg. |
