titleOfInvention PIPELINE THROUGH SEA OR RIVER WATER
abstract A pipeline duct or tunnel through which sea water or riber water flows, in particular the cooling water intake duct for a power station, is fitted internally with >=1 radioactive source, esp. for producing hard gamma radiation. The source(s) are pref. housed in a waterlight container, in particular a tubular container mounted parallel to the longitudinal axis of the intake duct. The radiation destroys mussels and other marine growth on the walls of the intake duct, in particular on the downstream side of the screens. Radioactive waste may be used as the source matl.
