Textile flat goods are treated with (I) a soln. or aq. dispersion of a polymer, and (II) 6-40 wt. % of an aziridino-propionic or succinic acid ester in which the alcohol is derived from a polyglycol ether with 6-100 ethylene oxide units or foam an ethylene oxide adduct of a2-6C at least bifunctional cpd. contg. OG, NH2, or NH gps. with 3-50 ethylene oxide units per functional gp. the aziridino cpd. is fixed on the textile by a cross-linking agent contg. COOH, OH or NH grps. The treated textile is used as a leather substitute. The fabric has higher water vapour absorption than known leather substitutes. The fabric is a (non)woven material, at least mainly of synthetic fibres, esp. 1-5 (1.5-3) mm thick with wt. 100-500 (150-350) g/m2 and showing 10-70% (25-50%) shrinkage on heating. |
