ACCUMULATOR |
abstract |
Accumulators are produced from two metal foils 0.01 mm thick representing the plus and minus plates which are combined with two separators to a four-layer sandwich strip. The strip is wound up to a pad or cut into flat strips for stacking. The metal foils are finely corrugated; the separators are ribbed and perforated and are made of a glass fibre fabric or of PVC foil. This results in large active surfaces because the thin four-layer strip allows many layers to be stacked together. Accumulators assembled with these plates have a large capacity, small size and weight; they are ideal for motor cars. |
