Methane is conditioned by addn. of nitrogen and the mixt. condensed and stored as liquid, by heat echange with liquid nitrogen, the gas from which is used for conditioning, which may also be carried out with liquid nitrogen. Liquefaction of methane-rich gases e.g. natural gas, refinery gas, ethylene plant gas, where required in small amounts for transport or storage. The process and plant are simple and economic where liquid nitrogen is available at low cost, and quantities do not justify a large liquefaction plant. |
