abstract |
Polyolefin-, esp. crosslinked polyethylene-based electrical insulations are stabilised against voltage strain by incorporating an aromatic hydrocarbon oil, pref. an anthracene oil, enriched with aromatic ketones or aromatic gp.-contg. hydroxyl cpds. Prodts. are useful as insulations for supertension cables. Improved electrical insulation-value is achieved; aromatic oil prevents ketone migration from insulation yet allows it to travel to positions in danger of electrical breakdown. Crosslinking of polyethylene is not inhibited. |
