titleOfInvention MEDICINAL PRODUCTS FOR THE TREATMENT OF BURN WOUNDS
abstract Novel medicament (I) for the treatment of burn wounds, in the form of an aq. soln. for application to the burn, comprises NaCl (6.800 g.), KCl (0.170 g.), MgCl2 6H2O (0.173 G.), Na2HPO4 (1.280 g.), dextrose (0.850 g.), asparaginic acid (3.000 g.), sulphamethazine (i.e., sulphadiimidine 0.750 g.), phenyl red (0.075 g.) (or a corresp. amt. of another indicator), NaOH (0.770 g.), H2O (to 1000 ml.). (I) increases the blood flow to the wound surface which helps to reduce infection. It also encourages the growth of new skin as it is a nutrient medium for skin cells. It is applied for moistening a bandage placed on the wound at definite time intervals. This method is less painful than conventional methods of treatment as mechanical cleansing of the wound is not required and killing of living cells by disinfection is avoided.
