abstract The inhibitor is prepd. by ethynylation of n-butyraldehyde with an excess of acetylene in the presence of solid KOH in an inert solvent at 0-50 degrees C. It comprises 85-93 wt.% of 1-hexyn-3-ol and 5-decyn-4,7-diol and 7-15 wt.% of cpds. CH3CH2CH2(OH)CH(C2H5)-A (where A is -CHO, CH(OH)C triple bond CH, CHOHC triple bond CCH(OH)CH2CH2CH3) or ethynyl polyols, sec. acetylenic polyols and mats thereof. The ratio of hexynol to decyndiol is 2.25 : 1.25 : 1.
