abstract | Photosensitive compsn. contains (1) a photosensitive disperse phase, consisting of individual particles of a combination of (A) an organic halogen cpd., which forms free radicals or ions on exposure to light of suitable wavelength and has the formula R-C-X3 (in which R is halogen, (halo)-alkyl or (halo)aryl; X is halogen), (B) an N-vinyl cpd. and (C) a matl. which polymerises or fixes the unexposed parts in a white colour; in (2) an aq. dispersion medium in which the disperse phase is almost insol. The compsn. responds to actinic light in such a way that an image with selective light absorption is obtd., which is different from that of the combination and of (A), (B) and (C) and the combination polymerises, forming a white colour. (C) can be a vinyl cpd. or a thiazine or cyanine dye. Compsn. is for photography and photocopying. Clear whites are obtd., without detriment to image colour formaton, with (C) eliminating the original colour of the AB combination. |
