titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR APPLYING LUBRICANT CARRIERS TO ALUMINUM OR ALUMINUM ALLOYS
abstract The solid or hollow Al or Al alloy block is cleaned or degreased and then dipped into a soln. contg. oxalic acid, a halide, and Fe-, Ni-, Mn- or Cr sulphate, which has a pH 1-4. This gives a coating which acts as a carrier for a lubricant to prevent sticking of the metal or alloy to the extruder. Pref. the soln is used for 15-20 mins. at 75-80 degrees C. Pref. the soln comprises 100-250 g/l (CO2H)2.2H2O 50-80 g/l NaHF2 85-120 g/l KOH, 40-60 g/l FeSO4. 7H2O and 4-8 g/l Na2S2O3.H2O.
