Cpds. of formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are 2-5C alkyl or 4-7C cycloalkyl, and R3 and R4 are H or lower alkyl, or R1 + R3 and R2+R4 are -(CH2)n- (n = 3, 4, 5 or 6) or -(CH2)2-X-CH2- (X = O or NR5, R5 being lower alkyl)) have biological activity; for example, in experimental animals they display activity on the central nervous system. (I) are prepd. by redn. of N-oxides of formula (II) (obtainable by reaction of 2 molecules of alpha-metallated nitrosamines) to the oxygen-free cpds. e.g. by treating with excess tiralkyl phosphite. |
