abstract Resins, added, on processing, to vulcanisable mixtures of rubber elastomers or to PVC in 1-20 wt.% amounts, in order to improve adhesion of vulcanised mixtures to metals, steel, glass, textile fibres and fabrics of polyesters, polyamides, e.g. nylon and Perlon, polyacrylonitrile and cotton, are prepd. from (1) OH gp-contg. cpds. e.g. castor oil and ricinoleic acid; alcohols contg. 1-5 OH gps. polyglycols and polyesters; mono- to tri-basic hydroxyacids and their esters; (2) aliphatic-, or 5-40C naphthenic or aromatic isocyanates with 1-3 NCO gps., esp. toluylene-, diphenylmethane-4,4' and hexamethylene-1,6-diisocyanate, and (3) aliphatic or aromatic epoxyalcohols contg. 1-3 OH gps., and >=1 epoxy gps., esp. glycidyl-2,3-epoxypropanol. Primary, sec. and tert. amines and hydroxy-amines are pref. added as reaction accelerators.
