abstract Cpds. of formula (I): are prepd. by (a) reacting a nitroanthranilic acid with a nitrophenyl isocyanate in a polar amidic solvent; (b) cyclising the resulting 2-nitrophenylureido-nitrobenzoic acid with COCl2 in the presence of NH3 or NH4, Na or K carbonate or hydroxide; (c) the resulting chloride salt at high temp; and (d) catalytically hydrogenating the resulting dinitro cpd. without prior isolation. (I) are esp. useful as inters. for heat-resistant, flame-resistant polyamides.
