| abstract |
Gypsum board comprises a hardened gypsum core firmly bonded to a paper base sheet by means of an intermediate layer of starch acting as binder. The starch paste is applied between the paper and the gypsum while the gypsum is still wet and opt. before the gypsum has set. The method prevents penetration of the starch paste into the gpysum. Hence firm adhesion is obtd. The starch may be obtd. from wheat, potatoes, maize or tapioca. |
