abstract | Detergent compsn. for washing natural or synthetic textiles contains, by wt., 0.5-10% phosphonocarboxylic acid having formula H2O3P-CRX-COOH (I), or water-soluble salts thereof, (where R is 1-4C alkyl and X is H or OH), pref. alkali salts of 1-phosphono-1-propionic- or -hydroxypropionic acid; 0-96.5% other opt. complexing esp. P-free builders; 3-45% of at least one tenside such as soaps, synthetic carboxylates, sulphates, sulphonates and non-ionic polyglycol ethers. Components, esp. (I) and the other builders, are selected so that compsns. have pH 6-11.5 (7-11) in 1% aq. soln. Compsns. may contain Na5P3O10, provided total P content is 6 (5) wt.%. Pref. compsns. are free from triphosphate and contain (I) together with alkali carbonates and/or silicates, provided wt. ratio (I): carbonate and/or silicate is 1 : 100 to 4 : 1 (1 : 50 to 4 : 1) esp. 1 : 20 to 1 : 1, and total P content of compsn. is 2 wt.%. |
