titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TERTIAER ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE FROM SULFURIOUS SOLUTIONS
abstract AlPO4 is produced by prepg. in the known way an Al(HSO3)3 soln., treating with calcium phosphate to form a soln. contg. Al, H3PO4 and Ca(HSO3)2; heating the mixt. in a closed vessel to >100 degrees C without decomposing sulphurous acid, whereby AlPO4 is pptd., and removing AlPO4. The remaining soln. can be used in the prodn. of cellulose by the sulphite method. Opt. the Ca(HSO3)i contg. soln. can be treated with MgSO4 or Na2SO4 to ppte CaSO4 and form Mg(HSO3)2 or NaHSO3; after the removal of CaSO4, the process is continued as described above. By this method, AlPO4 practically free of CaSO4 and S is obtd.
