abstract | The ferromagnetic metal powder contg. Co and/or Ni has a square hysteresis loop, high coercive force, and high max. permanent flux desity. The powder is prepd. by redn. of a metal salt in an aq. soln. in the presence of hypophosphite ions and an org. solvent under a magnetic field. Pref. the powder is composed of a salt of Ni and/or Co, and contains 0.5-15 wt.% P and 0-10 wt.% (based on Ni or Co) of a salt of a different metal, obtd. from a metal salt of La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Al, S, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu or Zn, the salt being a sulphate, chloride, nitrate, formiate, a etate, sulphamate, or pyrophosphate. The metal ions concn. in the aq. soln. is 0.001-1 mole/l and the pH is 5. |
