abstract | Soln. contg. >=1 periodate cpd. is used for removing coatings produced photomechanically with light-sensitive polyvinyl alcohol copying coats. It is used in wealy acid medium at pH 5-6 and can be coloured with pigment dyestuff and/or surfactant. The periodate pref. is Na paraperiodate. The process involves simply applying and spreading the soln. over the entire surface, leaving for 90-120 s and rinsing with a powerful jet of water, i.e. obviates brushing away residues with water or the prolonged treatment time (not 10 min) needed with Nacl soln. or a similar Cl- contg. agent. |
