abstract Dyes, of formula (where X is Cl or Br; m = 1-4; n = 1 or 2; and R is H or an opt. substd. (ar)aliphatic or cycloaliphatic gp., pref. (R1O)nR2 or R3OH; where R1 is 2-3C alkylene; n is 1-6; R2 is H, (methyl)phenyl, 1-4C alkyl, acetyl or propionyl; and R3 is 4-10C alkyl) are suitable for dyeing synthetic fibres, esp. polyamides or polyesters, and give better thermofixing fastness than similar un-halogenated monoazo dyes.
