Partly known cpds of gen formula (I): where R1 = opt. branched alkyl (1-6C); R2 = H, methyl or ethyl; R3 = opt. branched alkyl or alkoxy (1-8C); X= - C = N or - COOR4; R4 = opt. branched alkyl (1-6C); are prepd. by reacting a n amine (II): R1-NH2 with an opt. substd. acrylic acid deriv (III): H2C=CH-X to form an adduct (IV): This is reacted with (V): R3-C-Cl in the presence of triethylamine or pyridine and opt. in hydrocarbon solvent. (I) have insect-repellent act. esp. against gnats and midges. They may be used in cosmetic prepns. or in technical products such as textiles, packing materials, polish or window-cleaning agents (I) have very low mannalian toxicity, are compatible with human skin and mucous membranes and do not attack plastics under normal conditions. |
