abstract Title derivs. are of formula (I): (where R' is H, Cl, Br or I; R2 is H, Cl, Br, I or NO2; and R3 is an alpha,beta-olefinically unsatd. aliphatic residue, or a bridge member linked with an 8-hydroxyquinoline ester residue of (I)) and acceptable salts, and can be prepd. by esterifying corresp. 8-hydroxyquinolines with a reactive deriv. of an acid R3-COOH, have bacteriostatic or bactericidal and fungistatic or fungicidal activity and can be used in conventional formulations such as ointments, tinctures, solns., sprays and dusts.
