titleOfInvention | METHOD OF MANUFACTURING WATCH DIAL AND WATCH DIAL PRODUCED BY THIS PROCESS |
abstract | Watch dials are produced from a glass compsn. contg. >=1 lattice-forming oxide, >=1 devitrification agent and >=1 coloured oxide. The compsn. is fused and moulded. The formed dials are slowly cooled to a temp. below the glass stabilisation point, heated again to a temp. above this point (whereby crystallisation nuclei are formed) and subjected to a thermal treatment promoting the crystal growth, and slowly cooled to avoid breakage by thermal shock. Tough, breakage-resistant watch dials are produced; they can be flame-treated or polished with diamonds. |
