abstract |
A combined water-cooling box is provided for twin horizontal continuous casting moulds for iron and non-ferrous metals. The two moulds almost touch at the centre of the box and there are vertical dividers above and below each mould to make four separate compartments in the box. Cooling water enters at the front bottom of the outer compartments, and exits at the rear top. Each centre compartment has its own entry and exit point. The rate of cooling on each strand can be controlled individually, despite a common withdrawal speed. The cooler is simple to construct, and, by itsuse, output can be doubled. |
